Give the Gift of Italy this Holiday Season!

Mary Ervolina started a small initiative last spring to import high quality Tuscan wine and extra virgin olive oil as a way to support her colleagues in Italy, particularly the small food and wine producers that many of you had the opportunity to meet during your recent trips to Italy. Your amazing response provided much needed and greatly appreciated financial support, and helped to keep small family producers in operation.

I hope that you all continue to do well during this very challenging time. As promised, I am writing to announce that the wine and olive harvests are in full swing in Italy, and the fruits of this labor will soon be ready for delivery to our homes!

Throughout the past months, we have continued to import wine and oil in response to the many requests for “re-orders” not only from all of you, but from family and friends who were the lucky recipients of your generous gifts. Due to the fact that we have received wonderful feedback on the oil and wine, and travel to Italy does not appear to be resuming anytime soon, my colleague, Stefano Volpi, a driver/guide specializing in food and wine excursions in Tuscany, and I, have decided to continue to import oil and wine for the immediate future. We have added a few additional food products from excellent small batch family producers to our offerings, and in response to your requests, a small selection of gift baskets will also be available for the upcoming holiday season.

We will continue to partner with Poggio Rubino, a highly regarded family-run winery located in the heart of Montalcino, Tuscany. Their recently released 2015 Brunello is highly regarded and considered one of the best vintages in recent years.

Additionally, we are offering the just harvested 2020 tins of olio nuovo from the same small independent producer in Chianti, a family operation in the small village of San Gusme. Olio Nuovo or “new oil” is the first extra virgin olive oil off the press each season, and the freshest olive oil that you can find. Ordinarily, olive oil is stored for a couple of months before bottling, and doesn’t arrive in the USA for several months after that. Olio Nuovo is picked, pressed and bottled right away, with shipment occurring as soon as we place our orders, and typically arriving within a week.

This is a great opportunity to offer support to struggling businesses in Italy, while having access to small batch organic Italian products until we can travel again. It appears as though we may be spending a great deal of time eating and drinking from home during for the unforeseeable future, so why not bring some Italian “deliciousness” into your home!
